Now Viewing: duke_nukem_(character)Tag type: Character The protagonist of the Duke Nukem series. He is a blonde hair and muscular man who wears a red top and blue jeans. In the first two games, he did not wear sunglasses, but his design and personality were codified in Duke Nukem 3d. From 3D onwards, he is virtually never seen without sunglasses. He is one of the earliest first person shooter protagonists to have a clearly defined personality as opposed to being a silent hero. Duke will often begin a level by cracking his knuckles and making some kind of comment, usually a boast about what he plans to do to the villains. 3d's extensive interactivity allows Duke to interact with all sorts of objects which will prompt a comment from him. He is a cocky and womanizing man who is very pop culturally savvy. Many of his quotes are direct quotes from movies and he recognizes all of the cameos he comes across. He is treated like a celebrity in his universe, complete with merchandise bearing his image and is well respected by most fellow men and is very successful with women. He is also effectively humanity's best force as he goes through all of his games defeating the villains mostly by himself. In combat, he predominantly uses a wide array of guns and a jetpack. He, or rather his corpse, also makes a non canon cameo in the first person shooter game Blood (no relation to the anime). He is voiced by Jon St. John, his most well known role as a voice actor. In the JPN dub of Duke Nukem Forever, he is voiced by Tachiki_Fumihiko.
