Have to admit - I had a g/f who was acting weird about "visiting her sister tomorrow" and when her sister showed up a day early and had no idea about the "visit" the next day. I looked through my g/f's phone and sure enough she was texting a dude about seeing eachother. If you look through your partners phone it better be for a real reason and also it better be the end of the relationship (it was for me).

I’m Chicano and my family gets rid of the “evil eye” or “mal ojo” by rubbing an egg over the body while reciting prayer and then cracking it into a glass to read the contents. There are also some different cleansings that involve the spitting of alcohol and the use of bundles of herbs that they slap you with. 😆 It’s interesting to hear how Greeks do it!🤘🏽

Every second of this episode has been absolutely delightful. In between laughs, I’m still smiling. 😊

Culture guy - half my family is German. We know our roots, we immigrated after ww1, my grandpa grew up in the blow back, dealing with anti German racism, then he fought ww2... So we are very loud and proud about our German roots BUT we constantly have to define and redefine that we are not THOSE Germans.. We know the small town and global versions of that history, I know what my family was up to, I know what the loved about Germany that gets totally ignored by most people, stuff like that.
Thats how you do it man. You got to know your stuff and pick and choose what to embrace because you're going to have to go to bat for it. You'll have to explain and defend and say well I got rights to this too, there's a non racist history here I'm not going to abandon.
Here's the thing with me, the other half of my family is southern black. That experience you're having? It's the same as owning your shit as a minority. That's what you're not getting. Being under a microscope and needing to go to bat, all this, that's a common thing for being black or Spanish, or even a recent immigrant. You don't understand that this is a common experience - but your friends aren't recognizung that this is the same shit they're dealing with it they don't see it because you're white
